Birkenhead Lodge guest house is situated just outside the small coastal fishing resort of Gansbaai; close to Danger Point and the infamous Birkenhead Rock on which the historic HMS Birkenhead, after which the Lodge is named, foundered in the last century.

Birkenhead Lodge is Only 150km from Cape Town  On a quiet smallholding between Gansbaai and Kleinbaai 1Km from the sea, near several beaches and resorts for water sports etc. Accommodation 4 self catering chalets accommodating 4 adults & 2 children each.  Each chalet has its own fitted kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom, lounge and an indoor braai facility. B&B for 24 people in total (should your group be larger we will arrange extra accommodation at reputable bed and breakfast establishments nearby.) Comfortable guest lounge and dining room. The Great White Shark has been one of the most misunderstood, hated animals on the planet and given the bad reputation of "man-eater".  It has been hunted and killed to the point where it is now endangered and therefore protected.  It is true that it's razor sharp teeth and powerful jaws can kill a human being in a matter of seconds, however, the Great White Shark is not a mindless killing machine, it is in fact, a highly selective predator.   Humans do not form part of it's natural diet and attacks on humans are extremely rare.  The best months to view them are April, May, June & July, however the season stretches to the end of October.  The cruise lasts from 5 to 7 hours (full day) and all diving equipment plus refreshments are included in the price of R1000 per person.  This is a great opportunity to view these spectacular creatures in their natural feeding ground.
